This is a Schiffer publication aimed at collectors of knives. It chronicles the Sheffield knife industry from its beginnings to the closure of the factories. This book is filled with colour photographs of knives and blades for all imaginable purposes, except the everyday table knife. The Bowie knife features strongly, as they were manufactured in Sheffield, to American specifications. There is everything from surgical blades, ladies garter knives, hunting and skinning knives, ceremonial and exhibition daggers and dirks, multi-bladed folding knives and folding razors.

There are also pages from manufactures design books and advertising materials.
