Historic Ironwork: Architectural |
This book shows the ironwork of Philadelphia, from some early examples up to the end of the 20th century. Each black and white photograph is accompanied by an explanation of the work along with the names of the artist blacksmith and architect responsible for the work, when known. As well as forged ironwork, this book also contains a great deal of cast iron, as this was often the material of choice for functional and decorative architectural ironwork. As the Jack Andrews publication ' Samuel Yellin: Metalworker' is currently out of print, this book is probably the next best reference for pictures of Yellin's beautiful ironwork.
