Louis Blanc was an architect who loved the ironwork embellishments in his home town of Bordeaux, France. He took to sketching them at random, and by the 1920s, he had amassed over 1500 drawings. He published a volume of them, for the benefit of others who admire and study forged ironwork.
This book is a republication of that work. The ironwork depicted dates from the Middle Ages onwards. The location, at the time of sketching, is noted on the drawings.
All aspects of architectural work are covered, including door knockers and hinges.
