Historic Ironwork: Architectural

Art Nouveau Ironwork of Austria & Hungary
By Santi & Gacher

This book is packed full of colour photos of early 1900s architectural ironwork from Budapest and Vienna.
The introduction states that, under communism, very little major reconstruction took place in Budapest and the city now appears to be in a time-warp. Consequently, much historic ironwork, that has disappeared from other cities, has survived in graceful, gentle neglect.
The authors have set about photographing the ironwork, created mainly between 1900 and 1920. The style of work is noticeably different to our usual expectation of Art Nouveau ironwork and the great Western European masters, whose

work we are used to seeing images of.

This book provides a pictorial record of some truly amazing ironwork, seen in its original setting.
