Direct Metal Sculpture Creative Techniques and Appreciation
Direct Metal Sculpture was originally published in1966. This edition was revised and updated in 2001. As the title indicates it is a book about metal sculpture, both ferrous and non-ferrous. There is a great deal of information about the work processes, metals, equipment and techniques used to create sculptural pieces in metal. This book is also packed full of photographs of finished pieces, from jewellery items to public art and work in progress. The original sections contain only black and white images, the revised sections take the form of new chapters with colour photographs of work created between the original and the revised publication dates. If you intend to use this book as an instruction manual, please be aware that some of the techniques described in 1966 for using power tools and gas torches, might not comply with current safe practice. If you are not familiar with the technique you wish to use, please seek advice before proceeding. This is an American publication and some terminology is different in the UK. |
